“I would still publish the same..” – Tulane Student Sends Out a Powerful Message After Defending Kanye West and Receiving Death Threats for Standing With the Controversial Rapper
Kanye West has some staunch supporters. The Donda singer has become the poster boy for controversies in the last few months. From repetitive anti-Semitic comments to commenting on Black Civil Rights activists, the singer has managed to turn many allies into enemies with his remarks. While many people have refused to side with him, there are still a few followers that continue to defend him.
These include some young minds as well. A Tulane student recently wrote an article defending Ye’s controversial opinions. But in return, the student is now receiving death threats for her defense of him. Despite it all, the student has continued supporting him. She has now given her reason behind it.

Tulane student explains why she is doubling down on her defense of Kanye West amid death threats
Freedom of speech is still a much-debated topic, especially today. One such student practiced that right, with the risk of receiving death threats for it. The Tulane University student received them for defending Ye’s actions in her article. As per WGNO, their journalist Amy Russo asked her if the student would still write the article if she could go back in time. To which Ma replied, “If I were given the chance to do this again, I would still publish the same article.” She said that the article aimed to explain the comments that got him canceled.

The student wished to explain the reasoning behind his comments and offer context to them. There are people who have called for strict action or her expulsion. In fear of harm, she has currently left the state, and she has been advised to stay off campus. As for the University, they have not spoken out publicly but sent a message saying they understand how her letter has hurt people’s sentiments.

The University has not taken any action against her yet. But the student also maintains that she has not broken any protocols or has been racist through her letter. Like West, she stands firmly for her freedom of speech. It will be seen what happens next for the student and other like-minded ones.
