Do we really need to speak about the legacy Henry Cavill has left behind as the Geralt of Rivia? Undeniably, the British actor played the role to perfection. While The Witcher has always been an anticipated show, Cavill’s performance as Geralt played a big part in popularizing the show. Even before the fantasy show made its way to our screens, Cavill was a huge fan of the franchise. Moreover, it was the actor’s fondness for the franchise that played a major part in landing him the lead role. And months before his exit, the actor proved he is a true The Witcher fanboy in an interview.
In a 2021 interview with BBC radio, the Enola Holmes star opened up about what he felt about the character of Geralt. Praising Cavill’s performance in season one, the interviewer told Cavill that he felt the British star was born for the role. In response, Cavill admitted that he is extremely fond of the character. “I will fight tooth and nail for him, to do him justice,” the 39-year-old elaborated.
Meanwhile, the interviewer was full of praise for the British star. The host admitted that Cavill was a perfect fit to play Geralt while drawing parallels to Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool. Elsewhere in the interview, Cavill also made a shocking revelation. The British actor confessed that The Witcher creators rejected him soon after their first meeting, claiming that the “role was not for him.” However, as fate would have it, the actor landed the role, and the rest is history.
Henry Cavill’s last appearance as the Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher season 3
While Cavill has left The Witcher for reasons unknown, the actor will be reprising his role in the third season of the show. As of late, there is no release date for the third installment. However, reports by DigitalSpy, suggest that the show might be making its way to our screens later this summer. Meanwhile, the third season will be the last time the audience will witness Cavill in the Geralt outfit. Even though the fans will have to wait to see what season 3 has in store for them, Lauren Hissrich previously made a surprising hint about Cavill’s exit.
