West Philadelphia-born actor Will Smith was always meant to be the shining star of Hollywood. His passion for singing brought him into the world of entertainment and he shortly became wildly successful. He is the only celebrity who worked in the top eight US movies grossing over $100 million at the box office.
The Men in Black actor received Oscar for best actor for his portrayal of Richard Williams in King Ricard. However, it seems Smith once had a political dream when he revealed his desire to be the first Black President of the USA and how Barack Obama made him drop the plan.
Will Smith once thought about running for US Presidency
In 2016, Will Smith sat down with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show to talk about the movie Suicide Squad and his views on politics. During the conversation, the host told the actor that he has the traits of a politician. When the After Earth star said that he wished to be the first black President, the same year Barack Obama was running for the position.
“Yeah, I missed it. I missed it. I was thinking about it,” remarked the Suicide Squad star in response to his previous statement. The actor added that he has watched Obama working for the nation for the last eight years. He admitted that taking responsibility for a country is a hard job and not everyone can do it.
Although people would have voted for him seeing the popularity he has gained all these years. Moreover, he explained that he certainly has some ideas and views but he does not seem to possess those skills. Also, Colbert complimented the hip-hop legend that he even resembles Barack Obama and would make a great impression
However, currently, Smith is recovering from the shadows of his infamous Oscar incident. While he is working on the movie Emancipation as an actor and producer that depicts the exploits of a runaway slave.
