But the Smiths stuck together in tough times. The actor has two kids, Jaden and Willow, with his wife and actress Jada Smith. But also son Trey Smith from his first marriage to Sheree Zampino. Despite it, the modern family manages to stay close-knit. In a recent interview, the MIB actor admitted to his shortcomings as a father with his first son, Trey Smith.

Will Smith talks about how he could have been a better father to Trey Smith
The Smiths are known to share their family relations in public for years. The actor recently appeared for an interview in Showtime’s ALL THE SMOKE podcast to promote his movie Emancipation. He spoke on the topic of fatherhood with hosts Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson and revealed how his relationship with the eldest son Trey Smith was not so great initially. “I was an okay father for my first son. Got a little bit better with Jaden,” he said during the episode. However, he also added how the relationship has got better with time.

The Hitch actor’s relationship with his first son only got better after marrying the Collateral actress. But his last year has been his best as a parent, as he gained a lot of wisdom through his suffering. The process was slow, but the bond he shares with the children now is much better.

Willow and Jaden have both starred with their father in movies like I am Legend and Pursuit of Happyness. Trey Smith has also acted in several projects and shares a good bond with his step-siblings as well as Jada.
