“I thought that…” – Sydney Sweeney Once Thought That She Will Not Be a Part of ‘Euphoria’ Season 3 for This Reason
Sydney Sweeney had a rocky start to her film career in the beginning, but once she hit the right chords, she never looked back. She might have started at a slower pace by doing minor roles in shows like Grey’s Anatomy, but as she landed her first big role, she was aiming for something big. And one such role that changed the direction of the 25-year-old’s career is Euphoria.
The beautiful blonde won both hearts and an Emmy nomination for her role as Cassie Howard in this HBO series. Her character was quite liked in the first season of the show but became one of the most hated in the second. She was highly appreciated for her performance even after having an utterly unlikable character. But, do you know that initially, she thought her character was going to die in the second season?

While she received huge applause from critics for her performance in season two, initially, the actress was not even sure that her character was going to survive. Last year, Sydney Sweeney said in EW’s ‘The Awardist’ podcast, “I thought that Sam was killing me,” and by Sam, she meant Sam Levinson, the creator of Euphoria. And the reason behind this was the risky car scene sequence from the first episode of season 2.
She did not die in the show and went on to give a memorable performance. But why did the actress think her character was going to die?

The Sharp Objects actress thought of Cassie Howard’s death because of her opening scene in Euphoria’s second season. In her entry scene in the second season, Sweeney’s character drove along with Nate to the New Year’s party. She was extremely drunk and emotionally vulnerable as she sat beside Nate in the car. In that scene, Nate drove the car really fast while drinking, and Cassie leaned out of the window randomly.
When she took a glance at the script initially, she assumed that Cassie’s journey would officially end. She said that she was very “bummed“; however, it turned out to be the exact opposite. When she kept on reading, she found out that the scene was written that way to establish the connection between her and Jacob Elordi’s character.
