Acting is an incredibly challenging task. We are no strangers to the fact that an actor often has to go to great lengths to inhabit the characters they portray. Sometimes one has to spend months, or even years, living as another character. And unsurprisingly, sometimes portraying a character over a period of time can be life-changing. That is what happened with Noah Schnapp, who stars as Will Byers in Netflix’s hit show Stranger Things.

Noah Schnapp is among the few actors who have become household names following their performances in Stranger Things. A few months ago, we saw the actor open up about his sexuality. Coming out to the audience was anything but easy for the actor, and if it was not for his character Will Byers, Schnapp would have never revealed the truth.

Throughout the first three seasons of Stranger Things, the audience had their doubts about Will Byers’ sexuality. However, it was not until season 4 that it became clear that Will was homosexual and had feelings for his best friend, Mike. Towards the end, fans were convinced of it, and the story had placed Byers’ sexuality undeniably front and center. Interestingly, apart from affecting the storyline completely, the revelation even had a huge impact on Schnapp’s life.

In an interview with Variety, the actor revealed how embracing Byers’ sexuality was a huge step towards accepting himself as well. The actor gave his character the entire credit as he admitted, “I think if I never played that character, I probably would still be closeted.” 

Notably, in the TikTok video using which he came out to the internet, Schnapp wrote in his caption how he relates to Will more than he actually thought. 

While it was a challenging journey for the actor, Netflix had an incredibly wholesome reaction to the same.

How Netflix reacted to the actor’s revelation video

Almost eight months in January, Noah Schnapp posted a video on his TikTok account wherein he opened up about his sexuality. The video saw him lip-syncing to audio from another video and even revealed how his parents and friends were very open about it. Meanwhile, Netflix also stood proud and had a positive reaction to the news.

As surprising as it sounds, the streaming platform changed its Twitter profile and penned down an adorable note in its bio. The streamer’s bio read, “Love You Noah Schnapp,“ followed by a red heart emoji. Shortly after, fans were quick enough to notice the change and praised the streamer for supporting the actor.
