The final countdown to the release of One Piece live-action series has officially begun. With just five days left for the live-action series to grace our screens, the excitement is massive. As is known, creator Eiichiro Oda has been completely involved in the making of the series. From the production of the series to its casting, Oda played a major role in bringing the iconic show to life. And recently, Netflix shared an interesting clip from the series’ casting process.

Bringing a huge title like One Piece to life is undoubtedly not an easy task. The first and foremost challenge the creators faced was selecting the right actors to portray each character. However, as surprising as it sounds, Oda had no double thoughts about choosing Iñaki Godoy to portray Luffy, and the reason is interesting.

Ahead of its release, Netflix recently shared the first time Eiichiro Oda met Iñaki Godoy, starring as Luffy in the upcoming series. The clip featured a hilarious meet-up between Oda and the young actor, who was awestruck after meeting him. Oda recalled the time when he first saw Godoy’s audition clip. The creator revealed how he started laughing when he saw the video. Godoy had an adorable reaction as he asked in disbelief, “I made you laugh?”

Oda continued as he told the actor how he looked exactly like the Luffy he drew in the manga. That is when he realized that Godoy was the actor to go forward with and admitted, “I intuitively thought, That’s Luffy.” Meanwhile, Godoy also got candid about his feelings as he spoke about how he wanted to play the character for a long time.

Towards the end, the duo shared an emotional moment as Oda revealed that he could not imagine any other actor playing Luffy other than Godoy, who almost broke down in tears. Meanwhile, as surprising as it sounds, the rest of the crew was incredibly nervous to meet Oda.

A while ago, the cast and crew of One Piece’s live-action series had the opportunity to meet the creator, Eiichiro Oda. Oda, who played a huge role in bringing the series to life, was mostly elusive from the cast during the production. However, the team finally got a chance to meet the creator during a promotional event.

As reported by Collider, Luffy, Nami and the rest of the crew were terrified during their first meeting with Oda. Emily Rudd, who stars as Nami, described their meeting as the most scary moment of her life.” However, she admitted that Oda was a “lovely dude,” but his incredible legacy made her nervous. Meanwhile, director Matt Owens also had a challenging time working alongside the creator as well.
