It has been months since Henry Cavill shocked the world when he announced he would no longer be playing the Man of Steel. The decision was a major shock for the entire DC fandom because of two reasons. Firstly, it was one of the greatest roles by the actor. Secondly, Cavill had just returned to DC after years for the Dwayne Johnson starrer Black Adam. Despite all these months that have passed since he bid farewell to the role, it is still a shock for the fans because they knew well enough that Cavill wanted to continue in the role. And one of the actor’s previous interviews proves that the actor always wanted to stick to playing Superman.

There have been a few actors who play their roles in such a flawless manner that the audience keeps demanding to see more of them. Fitting the description was Henry Cavill as Superman. The actor loved playing the role of Man of Steel as much as the audience enjoyed watching him. And a few years ago, the British actor expressed his fondness and revealed his wish to continue playing Superman when he appeared in an interview with Patrick Stewart for Variety in their Actors to Actor series.

During the interview, Cavill spoke, “I hope I get to play more of Superman in years to come.” 

The British actor also expressed his gratitude for getting a chance to play Superman. In conversation with Stewart, Cavill admitted how his performance as Superman opened many avenues for him in Hollywood. The Enola Holmes star credited the character for transforming his career. Cavill described Superman as “one of those characters that changed the course of my career forever.”

Unfortunately, his wish never came true and his version of Superman was axed by new DCU bosses. However, The Witcher actor has many projects ahead of him, especially one with an MCU star.

Henry Cavill to join a major MCU star for a project

Ever since Henry Cavill stepped down as the Man of Steel, the Cavill fandom have began dream casting the actor as various MCU characters. From Captain Britain to an alternate version of Spiderman, there are plenty potential roles for Cavill to play. While MCU might be a distant dream for Cavill fans, the actor might be teaming up with Marvel’s top star Robert Downey Jr. As per latest reports, Cavill will join RDJ for an upcoming Sherlock movie.

However, for now, there is no update on what role Cavill could play in the movie.
