Being the author of the Bridgerton series, Julia Quinn has essentially laid down a very solid groundwork for the Netflix adaptation. In the case of the first season and book, the series pretty much followed all the details of the books. But, in season 2, we saw a lot of changes. Naturally, while half the fanbase loves the changes, the other half is baffled about the changes from the source.

Since Quinn is a creative consultant for the series, fans might expect her to get most of the news beforehand. But, that, apparently, isn’t the case. Julia Quinn said, “I get the bad news ahead of time“. Here’s all the context you need:

While Quinn is the author of the book series and knows all about the characters, she only serves as a creative consultant for the ShondaLand series. Her involvement is always “minimal”, as she lets the series take its own course.

One might expect that Julia Quinn would want the adaptation to follow her books strictly. That, however, isn’t the case. She wants the fanbase to have divided opinions about which one is better, as it is a sign that both are doing well on their own. She said, “You can watch the show and read the books and have both two separate experiences and one big experience.”
