For one, the incident helped form a new friendship with Paramore band’s vocalist Hayley Williams. They have only seen their friendship blossom ever since then.

Both singers are of similar ages and found fame in the industry at an early age. But having seen Swift go through the Kanye West incident only brought these two artists closer. With Swift’s Eras Tour in action now, the story of their initial years has been brought to light.

Hayley Williams brought back memories of friendship with Taylor Swift by recalling the Kanye West 2009 VMA incident

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour began on 17th March, wherein she collaborated with several artists to perform for her fans. Show opener Hayley Williams took to the stage, not only to perform but also to share a story with the audience about her bond with Swift. As per a video shared by Variety on Twitter, the singer remembered feeling lonely to have reached the Grammy’s stage at the early age of 18. But when the Kanye West incident happened, there were reports of a young Swift crying backstage. Williams felt that a person like Swift did not deserve it. “That was the first time that I felt like I have to reach out,” the 34-year-old mentioned.

Apparently, Swift’s mother wanted Williams to be friends with Swift, since the two were of similar ages. At first, the ‘Simmer’ singer was hesitant to reach out despite being offered the means to contact the ‘Fearless’ singer. The duo brought back memories for themselves as well as fans as they performed together during The Eras tour.

A look into the 2023 Eras Tour

Williams called Swift a ‘f*cking incredible person’, as she admired her during her Eras tour performance. Swift gave a performance of over three hours with more than 40 songs ‘State of Grace’ to ‘Mirrorball’.

As for the VMA’s, the actress made peace with West after he called her to apologize for his actions. Only to later portray her in his ‘Famous’ song.
