One of the megahits this year in the category of crime and thriller was unquestionably Ozark. It brought to us faces that weren’t new but were under-recognised. Among the most cherished star cast was Julia Garner, who gave us the most intriguing and boldest character, Ruth Langmore. Humbled after the much-deserved fame and glory, Julia tells us about the start of her career as an actress. And tell you what, it wasn’t even her aim to be one! So what made Julia the actress she is now?
Julia Garner never really thought she’d pull off an entire career in acting
Garner started taking acting and role-play classes at the age of just fourteen. Reportedly, she wanted to overcome her shyness. Thus, she was looking for a way to unleash her inner confidence and boldness. “That’s exactly when I knew I wanted to try [acting] professionally. Before that, I watched movies. Always. But I didn’t think it was a real job,” said Julia in an interview with Elle magazine.

As soon as she started her acting career as a student, the day wasn’t very far when she was chosen for a leading role in a motion picture. She made her debut at the age of 17 and landed her first film ever in the year 2011. First appearing in Martha Marcy May Marlene, she co-starred with many significantly recognised actors. She was seen sharing the screen with Sarah Paulson and Elizabeth Olsen. We all know the wonderful actress she is known to be today.
Julia’s acting career soared when she joined Ozark with Jason Bateman
Caravaggio and Mike Tyson inspired Ruth Langmore’s character. Having bagged two Emmy for the same role in the Ozark, Julia is now the face of the series. She won the best Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for the same and took Hollywood by storm. Garner appeared in the series from the first season itself. Since 2017 she has been one of the major reasons behind the show’s huge success.
Julia is currently the main star cast in Madonna’s upcoming biopic. Madonna, the pop singer is directing a movie about her own life and career, which stars Garner as the legendary singer.
