Fans would perhaps have their heart torn when we say that the Oscar winner actress, Jessica Chastain may not be a part of Netflix’s much-anticipated book adaptation. Yes! We are indeed talking about Taylor Jenkin Reid’s Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. As soon as Netflix found its way through the delicious twists of Reid’s narrative and got the right to adapt it; the very next question that evidently arose was: who will play the titular protagonist and other prominent roles such as that of Celia St. James?

While the streaming giant, following its notorious habit, had kept everything under wraps, one name that emerged for Celia’s role was none other than Jessica Chastain. Not only fans but even the Golden Globe award winner had suggested that she is aware of the eager fan casting and would love to go through the script once. However, it seems like all of it may go in vain as Chastain recently refused to sign the book and cited a speculative reason.

In a now-viral TikTok video, the 46-year-old American actress did not sign the New York Times Best Seller explaining, “I can’t sign that just because I am not doing it.” Although we have received no confirmation from the officials yet, her statement is perhaps self-explanatory and Netflix may have to look for a potential replacement.

Meanwhile, fans are already expressing their chagrin and urge to cast her for the role.

The character Chastain was supposedly going to play was that of Celia St. James. According to the novel, James is one of the most accomplished actresses of Hollywood’s Golden Age. Having won 3 out of the 4 Academy Awards nomination, the natives also regard her as America’s favorite. Having won over 20 accolades throughout her lifetime, the 46-year-old American native was perhaps the best fit for the role. However, she may not do the job now, causing immense sadness to her fandom.

While some say, the news just ruined the day, others claim “we lost our chance to have a watchable adaptation.” 

Other fans say that no matter what she will always be famous and the most wanted fan cast of all time.

Elsewhere, news has it that Chastain will lead the upcoming Audible sci-fi thriller, The Space Within, and will voice Dr. Madeline Wyle, an acclaimed PTSD and trauma psychiatrist.
