The Witcher 3 brought to the world the last dance of Henry Cavill as Geralt. Ever since the epic legends of the Witcherverse soiled, the fans were over the moon to see the narrative unfolding on Netflix screens. Yet the third installment carried a weight of disappointment from fans worldwide, mostly leaning on the premature farewell of the former Geralt. Despite the bed of needles, what even the fans cannot deny is how the season had been crucial in delivering the top-notch moments of Ciri and Yennefer.

Therefore, here is a list of three particularly wholesome moments between Ciri and Yennefer that set the season a class apart.

Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer’s domestic bliss

Having spent two whole seasons in separation, The Witcher 3 finally witnessed the merging of the three pivotal characters of diverse timelines, Yennefer of Vengerberg, Geralt of Rivia, and Cirilla of Cintra. Their formation of a one-of-a-kind sorcerer’s family came into view while Geralt and Yennefer’s long-awaited love story ultimately set in bloom. The bliss, however, did not come along with a forever guarantee card.

Especially since the Thanedd Coup played a crucial role in the trio’s separation after failing to secure safety. However, the time they spent together on-screen will remain a reason to revisit despite the no surety of where season 4 will take Yennfer and Geralt as a duo and the team as a trio. That being said, The Witcher 3 was also elemental for fixing the controversial shifts from the books, especially with Ciri and Yennefer.

Yennefer tells her story to Ciri

The season, based on the novel Blood of Elves, dived deep into curating the mother-daughter bond of Ciri and Yennefer. Especially since the second installment pictured Yennefer’s betrayal of Ciri, this season was important for her character to lead back into the good books of Ciri and Geralt. Hence, when the duo separated from Geralt, Yennefer tried to convince Ciri to go to Aretuza.

On their way, the pair get into an argument about how Ciri’s visions cannot be a weapon to change the future as it has been doing more harm than good. It is at that conflicting moment that the pair takes a detour to Yennefer’s troublesome childhood. She gets a sight of where Yennefer grew up and how she has fought through her struggles despite being imperfect.

The scene became a major reason for retreat as the moment set the lines for the ultimate vision of The Witcher trying to backtrack their disloyalty to the source.

Yennefer calls Ciri her daughter

Instead of being a mother figure and a powerful sorceress, The Witcher makers did turn Yennefer into an antagonist for the first two seasons. However, picking up those breadcrumb theories, the makers compensated for the same in season 3 with character-building and a return to source accuracy. During their separation in the Thanedd Coup, their mother-daughter relationship from the books sheds secrecy.

Yennefer reminding Ciri of how they will soon again cross paths came with the most-awaited declaration from her end, “I love you, my daughter”. And as Yennefer found her ultimate purpose in life, so did the books find their reason for existence. Hence, for all the right reasons, season 3 will remain an epic season for Ciri and Yennefer.
