Green Lantern in the DCU and Deadpool in Marvel, Ryan Reynolds has played not one but two popular superhero roles. Not just superhero roles, but the actor has a knack for picking big-budget action movies. From Red Notice to Free Guy, the actor is at his finest when he is a part of action movies.

Reynolds is also famous for doing his own stunts. Be it his ripped body as Wade Wilson or slashing swords as Deadpool, the actor works hard in order to do his own stunts. However, for Free Guy, he had to take a different route in order for us to witness the bulk-like figure of ‘Dude’.

How did Ryan Reynolds get bulked up for Free Guy?

The actor who is now 46 years old and has spent decades running around making amazing action movies in Hollywood. From getting fractures to terrible body pain, the actor has only recently expressed how doing his own stunts has taken a toll on his health. Therefore, for the role of ‘Dude’ in Free Guy, Reynolds had to use a body double.

Free Guy is a science fiction movie about a bank worker who discovers he is a background player in a game and takes the story into his own hands. This Reynolds starrer is as meta as it gets for a science fiction movie. For playing the bulked-up version of himself aka ‘Dude’ the actor roped in a professional wrestler by the name of Aaron Reed.

Who is Aaron Reed?

For starters, Aaron Reed used to be an A+ bodybuilder before he shifted to Hollywood. Reed is also considered one of the tallest bodybuilders, with a height of six foot and seven inches. He has won Men’s Physique, Classic Physique, and Super Heavyweight. However, Reed’s role in the movie is, at all times, shadowed by that of Ryan Reynolds.

By shadowed, we mean that Reynolds’ face was pasted on Reed’s body at all times. Reed has posted several pictures on his Instagram from his time on set. A picture of him standing next to Ryan Reynolds is baffling considering how the Deadpool actor, who is six foot two inches, only hardly reaches Reed’s shoulders.
