The Imperial Family of the United Kingdom has been having some back-to-back explosive surprises ever since the marriage of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle. Some might acquire a feeling of déjà vu considering the occurrences of the 1980s. But the Prince and his wife have in fact established fresh bricks on the groundwork of freedom and fulfillment that the former Princess of Wales laid two decades ago. Lately, it has been about their daughter, Lilibet Diana.

The latest shock that the Palace received at the hands of Sussexes is not about their memoir and Docuseries, but about their youngest child, Lilibet. Earlier reports claimed that the one-year-old might be a return gateway for the self-exiled couple. However, recent revelations about the Palace say that the royals were shocked at the infant’s name. 

The Royal Family did not like the name Lilibet Diana

Royal Biographer Gyles Brandreth has revealed that the name of baby Lilibet had bewildered the senior members of the family. Moreover, the choice of name was also considered presumptuous by many in the monarchy. The reasons lay crystal clear. Everyone is aware of the broken ties of Queen Elizabeth II with Princess Diana. Although both of them carried immense respect for each other, they never ran lines together around any matter. Moreover, Lilibet was a private nickname given to the Late Queen.

Undoubtedly, the Prince and the Duchess coined the name as a tribute to the late Queen and the late Princess. Prince Harry especially had strong ties with both the powerful female personalities of the family. As much as he respected the Queen, he held his mother’s memories and ideologies dearly in his heart. Hence, the name Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. However, sadly, this step by the self-exiled couple was not welcomed by the Monarchy.

Owing to past feuds and disturbances amongst the family, the Duke and the Duchess of Sussex decided to part ways with the royalty. Meghan Markle gave birth to their eldest son Archie in the luxury of the Palace. Lilibet, on the other hand, was born far away from their royal base, in California, USA.
