The World War II Saga All the Light We Cannot See already had a lot of buzz around it before it premiered on the streaming giant Netflix on November 2. The reason for this is that it is based on Anthony Doerr’s Pulitzer-winning bestseller of the same name. This miniseries has been adapted four times already. However, none was as welcomed as the Aria Mia Loberti starrer.

The actress is relatively new to the performing scene, yet she has already amassed a sizable fan base. But, more than the series, Netflix fans want to know how the actress got the role of the protagonist.

In an exclusive interview with Town and Country magazine, the director of All the Light We Cannot See, Shawn Levy, stated that he opened the casting process to “low vision” and “legally blind” individuals for the protagonist, who is blind herself. So, when he opened his casting to the global public, he received hundreds of cassettes from people interested in the job. Among the recordings was one from a young girl named Aria Mia Loberti. While the filmmaker had no idea who she was, there was something about her that just “popped.”

In an interview conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike, Mia Loberti discussed All the Light We Cannot See. The actress stated that she filmed the audition tape because she was having a difficult month and wanted to do something “fun and different.” Further, she did not expect to actually be taken seriously. So, when she got a callback and was asked to meet Shawn Levy for the first time, she was still thinking, “This is fun” and “I can’t wait for the movie” to come out.

While applauding the series, some fans had their own special request from the streaming giant.
