Triss Merigold is a sorceress who specializes in healing and the brewing of potions. However, as per the books, she has always been allergic to magical treatments of any kind. Be it potions or magical concoctions, it never worked on her and failed to heal her, despite being an expert in the area. This allergy has led to several situations where the mage could not use her powers.
For instance, when she fought with Vilgefortz of Roggeveen and other mages at the Battle of Sodden Hill against Nilfgaard, she got severely injured. While Merigold survived, a long gash wound her chest, that made her lose all her. According to the books, everyone presumed her to be dead because Yennefer was the only survivor who could recognize her, but she still did.
This fact has neither been mentioned in the games nor the show currently available on the streamer. In fact, the show has depicted the character quite differently than her description in the sources.

Anna Shaffer has beautifully portrayed the role of Triss Merigold in The Witcher. However, the creators have depicted the character differently in the series. The show has painted her as a tender and soft-spoken person who tends to wounded people. But in the books, she is a lot more strong-headed and more cunning than what the series showed.
The fantasy drama has also downplayed Triss and Yennefer’s companionship. In the source material, her infatuation for Geralt has been of slight contention between Triss and her fellow sorceress and Lodge member. With the change in politics in the Continent, fans will get to watch them together more often in the upcoming season as they have joined forces to unite mages together.
