Here’s Why Anya Chalotra Cried on the Set of ‘The Witcher’ While Shooting Season 3
Anya Chalotra is a name that does not need an introduction anymore in show business. The young actress has established her image, taking the role of Yennefer in The Witcher. Along with many other aspiring actors, she became famous overnight with her impeccable performance in the series. Though the books have depicted her iconic character differently, this beauty lived up to the expectations of fans and creators. But this success and recognition certainly have not come easy her way, and the show has tested her to the very end.
Once she was pushed far enough that the British star cried on the set during the shooting of season 3.

In August 2023, the cast of The Witcher sat down with BBC Radio 1 to share their experiences gained over the seasons. In this interview, Anya Chalotra talked about the filming conditions of season 3. She recalled the first episode where Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer hid in a snow-swept landscape surrounded by mountains and a lake. The 27-year-old revealed how the freezing temperature in Slovenia surpassed her limits of bearing anything.
“I cried, i wept on the second day. I had to have a huge break because they were worried they couldn’t get circulation back to my feet,” she said. Her toes turned into little blocks of ice, which was worrying because they just started filming the third installment. However, Chalotra was not the only one who faced extreme climatic conditions, as Freya Allan was almost baked in the 114 degree heat of a Moroccan desert.
Besides this, the other thing that made her cry was the news of of Henry Cavill’s exit from the fantasy drama.

Anya Chalotra and Henry Cavill have played soulmates on the Netflix series for three seasons. During their time together, the two built a strong connection and friendship, so it was hard for her to let go of a good friend and talented costar. She vocalized her sadness in an interview with The Telegram and called him family. The Wanderlust star had the same feeling as fans and said that he would be missed because his contribution was huge in the series.
She gushed over the former Superman that he has always given his best during his time as Geralt. He completely dedicated himself to portraying the iconic mutant and brought the best version on the screen. Alas! the 40-year-old will never be seen wielding that sword, slaying monsters, and Chris Hemsworth will take his place in season 4.
