The Sandman, Neil Gaiman&#8217;s iconic comic series, is many things: imaginative, eccentric, and downright dark. It&#8217;s packed to the brim with gods, monsters, real-life historical individuals, talking animals, and magic. Fortunately Netflix&#8217;s The Sandman adaptation, thoroughly embraces every dark, larger-than-life facet of Gaiman&#8217;s novel, taking viewers on a surreal trip through realms both familiar and distant.

Episode four Hope in Hell was one such important point in the story. In the episode Dream aka Morpheus travels to the Underworld to meet Lucifer (<a href="https://netflixjunkie.com/netflix-news-dream-vs-lucifer-the-drastic-height-difference-in-the-sandman-how-tall-is-gwendoline-christie/">Gwendoline Christie</a>). As the episode takes place entirely in Hell it required a huge amount of CGI.

The small one-minute look into the filming of the episode gives us a brief look at how the production took place. However, it is mesmerizing to see that through years of hard work, artists were able to create Hell. In the video, we can see that each scene went through extensive layering and masking before it was finally used in the show.
