The first-ever token of love Prince Harry gave to Meghan Markle
The ring was first designed by the Duke, of course, for his fiance back when they had not tied the knot. It was reportedly a three-stone stunner with a three-carat cushion having a sparkling heft diamond at the center. The Prince sourced it himself from Botswana, which again has a deep connection with the Sussexes.
This ring, which was the first ever ring gifted to Meghan Markle by Harry, evidently has its roots connected to Lady Diana, their late mother. The two stones surrounding the center stone diamond originally belonged to the vast collection of Diana’s personal jewelry set.
The only reason behind choosing such a unique present for his then-future wife was to pay a tribute to the former Princess of Wales. The fact that her essence and her values will forever be with him was a clear message from it. This was also Meghan Markle’s favorite version of the ring, since it had a golden base that carried the gorgeous crown-like diamond on top.
Experts estimate the price to be somewhere around $95,000 to $155,000, with obviously a greater inherent value for its link with Lady Diana.
The wedding ring
At this fairytale occasion, the late Monarch, Queen Elizabeth II gifted the newly minted Duchess of Sussex with an ancestral family legacy. She presented the newlywed bride with a rarely made gold ring with sparkling gold plates as the base. Cleave & Co. crafted the ring following the family’s century-old custom of using Welsh Gold. The estimated cost of this ring is not less than $350,000.
The type of this gold is said to be one of the rarest. In fact, the only people who still carry this legacy on their fingers are just the female members of the royal family.
The redesigned engagement ring
Not being able to help himself, Prince Harry decided to add more charm to the already gem of a ring that his engagement ring was. After their first pregnancy, the Duke summoned an eminent celebrity jeweler named Lorraine Schwartz to make some significant alterations to the piece. He revamped the original plain gold band with a trail of small diamonds. The absence of the ring stirred the fans and spectators with much speculation about Meghan’s fingers owing the pregnancy.
However, everyone was surprised when the rejuvenated ring returned to where it belonged, Markle’s finger. Many of them thought it had to undergo some size modifications due to pregnancy. Hardly did anyone know it was just Prince Harry bestowing his enormous love on his wife and now the mother of his children. Everyone got to receive the first glimpse of the spectacular ring at the Trooping Color Parade in 2019.
