Not so long ago, Henry Cavill dropped the superhero cape, stepping back from his cherished role of Superman. Following the reboot of DC Universe, the British actor was benched from his next film, leaving the world extremely disappointed. People were enraged at how the man who suited this character so well can be removed from the throne. We all have seen what a remarkable performance he gave in his debut film and other appearances. Well, it’s not just fans who say so even his past co-star James Franco once talked about how eager Cavill’s was to get this role.

Back in 2013, the American filmmaker James Franco on Vice shared his views about the Man of Steel starring Henry Cavill in an article he wrote for the entertainment website. The actor stated that he received an invite to attend the London premiere of the superhero film. So he went over to Leicester Square to see his past costar taking the mantle of this iconic character.

In the article, he also recalled the time when both of them were working together in Tristan and Isolde. He said at that time Cavill only cared about playing the role of Superman. The 39-year-old was deeply passionate about donning the Kryptonite suit and dreamed of accomplishing it someday.

“But Henry was dying to do the Bryan Singer version of Superman that was being put together as we were shooting Tristan in Ireland and the Czech Republic in 2005,” explained Franco. Notably, Cavill didn’t make the cut for the 2006 movie and instead Brandon Routh, who was rumored to replace The Witcher actor following the DCU upheavel, donned the cape.
