Henry Cavill’s Very Last ‘The Witcher’ Season Lost Its Topmost Spot On Netflix Global After Two Consecutive Weeks
The world had stopped spinning and the potions had stopped working ever since fans got to know Henry Cavill was stepping back from his The Witcher role. However, a little ray of hope resided in season 3. The British actor apparently reprised his role as fan favorite Geralt of Rivia for one last time in the ongoing season, charming the audience with his monster-hunting sword ballet. So much so that the fantasy series maintained its topmost spot for 2 consecutive weeks.
Yes. We do realize that the third consecutive week has commenced, but unfortunately, The Continent’s realm has lost its charm to the lawyer who practices at the back of his Lincoln car. Following the debut of part one of the British Television drama on July 6, it was in second position with a total viewership of 7.4 million. The Witcher, on the other hand, had 13.8 million views in that week and hence maintained its topmost spot for two consecutive weeks. In the third week, however, The Witcher’s viewership fell down to 6.7 million views as opposed to The Lincoln Lawyer’s 8.3 million views. Furthermore, the previous seasons of Hissrich’s show are also no longer holding their position in Netflix Global’s top 10 English TV list.
Now, if you may have noticed and are wondering why there is such a big gap in the viewership of season 1 and season 2, it is quite complicated.

Well, that is because Netflix has changed its way to calculate the viewership hours. Earlier, the OTT platform would only report the number of hours a season has been viewed globally. Therefore, it worked really well for the longer seasons such as that of The Witcher. However, the new metric depicts an average by dividing the viewing hours by the season’s runtime.
Now, if we compare The Witcher season 2 and season 3 as per the new metric, season 2, as per Redanian Intelligence had a total of 41.8 million views in its first 10 days (310 million hours of streaming for a runtime of 7 hours 41 minutes). Whereas volume 1 of season 3 saw a 30% drop in its viewership, that is 29 million views in its first 10 days (139.5 million hours of streaming for a run time of 4 hours 49 minutes).
