Henry Cavill’s Iconic Witcher Bore a Secret Weapon Liam Hemsworth Must Notice to Reach Full Potential, Claims Geralt Voice Actor
Liam Hemsworth has some big shoes to fill. Ever since it was announced that he would replace Henry Cavill in The Witcher, there has been a lot of skepticism from the fans. But, it is understandable. After all, Geralt is a tough character to bring to life, especially when there are fans who have spent hours playing as Geralt in games. They are always going to feel like they have a personal stake in who gets cast in the role. So no matter the actor, there is always going to be some pushback. But if Hemsworth wants to win over the fans, there are ways he can do it.
The legend behind Geralt's voice in the games has offered some advice to Hemsworth that could help him find his footing with the role.

Doug Cockle, the voice of Geralt, recently shared his thoughts on what Liam Hemsworth should focus on when it comes to the next season of The Witcher. During an interview with GamesRadar+ about Henry Cavill’s take on Geralt, Cockle pointed out a big part of what made Cavill's Geralt stand out— the “slight dourness” he brought to the character. He went on to say, “I call him a reluctant hero.” For Cockle, that was the most important trait to nail when playing Geralt. It is something Hemsworth can pay attention to as he steps into the role.
It was, however, not all advice and no confidence—Cockle also spoke positively about Hemsworth’s past performances in action-packed roles, saying, “I’m really excited to see what he brings.” Cockle, who is about to return as the voice of Geralt in The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, has been voicing Geralt for more than two decades now. So when it comes to offering advice on what works for the character, one could not ask for a better source. That said, there is a lot more riding on The Witcher Season 4 than just Hemsworth’s performance as Geralt.
Liam Hemsworth’s take on Geralt could work, but only if the show handles the transition in a smart way.
The Witcher Season 4 needs to tread carefully
Netflix made the announcement about Henry Cavill leaving The Witcher franchise even before Season 3 had been released on the streaming service. Because of that, the show did not have the chance to lay the groundwork for the recasting within the story itself. So, when Season 4 comes around, they will have to work extra hard to explain why Geralt now looks different. That said, although switching actors in a show can always be a bit jarring for viewers, the fantasy genre has more wiggle room than, say, a drama or comedy might.

Geralt’s been up against all kinds of monsters and magical creatures throughout the series, so there is always room for a face-changing moment in the story. And The Witcher has already bent the rules with how characters age. So, the six-year age difference between Henry Cavill and Liam Hemsworth might not really matter in the grand scheme of things. While Hemsworth might still seem like an unexpected choice for Geralt, so did Cavill when he was first cast. Now, we will just have to wait and see how it all plays out when the new season drops.
