October has been the cruelest month for Henry Cavill fans as the previous year he announced his departure from The Witcher. The fan-favorite Geralt of Rivia handed over his swords and medallion to Liam Hemsworth. The British actor is progressing in his career while Netflix’s Witcherverse is also moving forward.. After facing the backlash for the third season and the delay due to the strikes, the showmakers are ready to take the next step.

However, moving forward without the British actor might affect Lauren Schmidt Hissrich’s original plan for the adaptation.

Had there not been any pauses because of the strikes, production for the fourth season might have already begun. Fortunately, with the ending of the WGA strike, the writers’ room of the Netflix Original will restart their magic for the next season. As Redanian Intelligence reported, there might be a possibility of the writing beginning with the fourth season while concluding the tale with season 5.

Reportedly, the filming for the upcoming season would have started in September 2023. However, given the current condition, the plan is to roll the cameras in the first half of 2024. But now, the writers are going to write the scripts for season 4, polish them, and then directly move toward the writing of season 5. Therefore, it seems the showrunner might conclude the work sooner rather than later.

In the pre-strike era, before the release of the previous season, the showmakers started casting for season 4. Moreover, the Witcherverse is expanding with the prequel, The Rats, as well. The show might take a turn with the upcoming prequel and anime film as well. Well, amidst these developments, is there any update about the release dates of seasons 4 and 5 of the Netflix drama?

Liam Hemsworth started preparing to take over the role before the third season’s release. The producers of the show also seemed excited to have The Hunger Games star on board. With all the preparations, and the lifting of the WGA strike, the show has just started to plan the writing. Therefore, it seems a little too early to know when the seasons will drop on the streaming giant.

So, the fourth season might get the 2025 release following the 2026 release for the fifth season. Following the schedule, The Witcher is likely to take inspiration from the books, Baptism of Fire, Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake. There is no official confirmation about the release nor about the plotlines for the forthcoming seasons. But it will surely bring a thrilling journey for the viewers.
