Henry Cavill and Wolfgang Stegemann Reveal the Most Important Person for Geralt’s Iconic Fight Scene in ‘The Witcher’ 3, and It’s Not Henry

Before departing from the Witcherverse, Henry Cavill gave the viewers some of the iconic moments. The most important thing about his Geralt of Rivia is his ability to fight. And The Witcher has a lot of thrilling fights in it. These fights make the viewers feel Geralt’s strength. Therefore, whenever the viewers see Geralt at his strongest, it is when they see him fighting. In the latest Season 3, the Shaerrawedd fight is one of the most iconic ones. Though it is Cavill’s grace and stunt coordinator Wolfgang Stegemann’s choreography that makes these fights look real on screen, there is one person who played a key role, and it is not Cavill.

The English actor and Stegemann sat with Netflix: Behind the Streams and broke down the Shaerrawedd fight, where Geralt shows his full potential to fight in order to protect Ciri. In this Dance of Death, it is the cameraman who shoots the scene live on the battlefield and makes the fights look picturesque, something Cavill and Stegemann cannot. While breaking the fight scene by scene, the Enola Holmes actor revealed they filmed the fight in one shot only.

Moreover, he and Stegemann discussed how the cameraman was constantly live during the fight. In addition, the 40-year-old actor admitted there were some moves that were not a part of their rehearsals. However, the cameraman saw it while filming and quickly adapted to it, too. The cameraman had to be there at the right angle and with the correct size of his tool. And both colleagues appreciate the work of the cameraman. Because it was he who captured the essence of the entire fight.

Of course, there were many differences between the final outcome of the fight and the one they rehearsed. Despite the differences, the cameraman was about the justify the intensity of the moment.

Talking about the differences, the Superman actor revealed when they rehearsed the fight, the setup was entirely different. Because when they finally filmed it, there were extra bodies lying around on the ground.

Now, this is where his work got heard. Being a live cameraman, he had to move around those bodies. He also had to be cautious not to fall while filming the iconic fight. Moreover, there was another difference, and it was the pace. While rehearsing, the actors were not as rapid as they were while shooting.

Therefore, the cameraman had to move accordingly, whenever the actors picked up their pace. While keeping everything in mind, the cameraman, indeed, captured Geralt’s urge and passion to protect his Child Surprise during the fight in this season.
