Heartbreak Music: Alanis Morissette Hitting Rock Bottom After Ryan Reynolds Breakup Inspired Some of Her Best Music in 2008

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are arguably the most charming couple in the entertainment industry right now. One of those long-running relationships includes the time when he dated his fellow Canadian Alanis Morissette. The former couple first met at a birthday party in 2002 which led to a long romance till 2007. Meanwhile, one might not know the cause of their split but we do know that this breakup inspired some of the best music in 2008.

Back in 2007, Ryan Reynolds and singer Alanis Morissette called it quits after spending several years together. The ex-couple shared a joint statement that said they will move forward as close friends and will always have love and admiration for each other. While asking people to respect their privacy in this matter, they didn’t reveal the reason behind their split.

However, a year after that separation Morissette released album Flavors of Entanglement which addressed the grief of the singer. She even admitted in an interview with Access that the album is inspired by her breakup. Being an artist, she channeled her heartbreak into a beautiful song. “I miss your smell and your style and your pure abiding way,” boasted the lyrics of Torch track.

Moreover, she told L.A. Times that this breakup was a horrifying experience for her and she was shattered. “I’ve been on a constant journey toward finally surrendering and hitting the rock bottom that I’ve been avoiding my whole life,” explained the Canadian singer.

However, Ryan Reynolds never spoke about the breakup and moved on with Scarlett Johansson soon after it, which ended in a divorce in 2010. He then married his current wife, Blake Lively, in 2012 and shares three children with her, with a fourth on the way. Currently, the Iconic singer is married to Souleye and they are raising three gorgeous children: Ever, Onyx, and Winter.
