“He took accountability” – Source Reveals How the Will Smith Slapgate Incident with Chris Rock Brought Him Closer to His Wife Jada Pinkett Smith
The Will Smith Oscar incident acted as a domino effect to several actions being taken. While most were not in favor of the actor, it certainly brought his family closer. He took a break to go through a healing process with their support and has come out with a movie and several public appearances since then.
At the center of this controversy was his wife Jada Pinkett Smith. Both of them went through another public scrutiny, with some criticizing her for fueling Will Smith to do what he did. But instead of the incident creating a distance, a source revealed that the couple overcame it with a stronger bond.

The Smiths do not shy away from sharing details about their family life. Taking therapy sessions and talking openly are their measures of staying bonded as a family. As per ET, a source said, “He took accountability for his actions, and Jada stood by him throughout this hard time in their lives.” As per the source, the actor took time off to heal through the incident to focus on his mental state. He apologized for the incident, while The Matrix actress gave him support.
It was Chris Rock’s joke about Jada Smith that led the Oscar award winner to suddenly go up on stage and slap the host. It left a bad taste for everyone, including fans and fellow celebrities. Smith was not only banned from the Awards for a decade, but he withdrew his membership and it also somewhat affected his expensive Apple movie Emancipation.

But he went ahead digging out the Jada Pinkett Smith affair, pointing out how the Men in Black actor should be mad at her instead, and how this is all selective outrage. But the source claims that the couple expected Rock to touch on these topics, anyway.
