It did not take a kiss to invite the Hawkins apocalypse, just a cursed clock and a few flickering lights. But perhaps, just perhaps, a sonic smooch might be the balm that softens the blow of the Stranger Things swan song. As season 5 looms like a Demogorgon in the dark, fans sprint through theory tunnels deeper than the Upside Down. However, this is not just about who gets yeeted into oblivion. As the curtain creeps towards the final act, fans have tuned into their psychic Walkmans, tossing their ultimate banger battle cries, hoping one of them becomes the last note to echo through the Upside Down.

When Max was left navigating the blood-curdling path of the Upside Down, her Walkman-powered trance saved many lives. But as Stranger Things season 5 inches closer, Reddit fans are curious to know which track will ride the credits like the Ghostbusters mobile through the Hawkins High to kiss the decade-long otherworldly journey the last goodbye. A Reddit user recently asked fellow Hawkins guardians to reveal the tracks they would raise to the sky when the gates close once and for all.

If Stranger Things fans trust in one sacred truth carved into Hawkins lore, it is that when the walls start warping and Vecna’s mind games hit full volume, the antidote is not a weapon but a Walkman. Ever since Max broke free of his curse with ‘Running Up That Hill,’ music has been canonized as the ultimate Upside Down exorcism tool. Call it lyrical armor or a beat-powered banishing spell, but soundtracks are way more effective than a Demogorgon-slaying nail bat.

Upside Down fans stack up with tracks for a mic-drop Stranger Things final season

From assembling the Hawkins Avengers to losing a few too many in the process, the Stranger Things journey has been a mixed bag. However, if fans had their way of rolling out a sonic salvation with season 5, a track that would definitely make it is Pink Floyd’s ‘Us and Them. Although a Reddit user dubbed it a “generic choice,” ‘Everybody Wants to Rule the World’ by Tears for Fears also made it to the jukebox.

According to a Stranger Things fan, to nicely “book end the series,” creators should go with Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein’s Upside Down track, ‘Kids.’ However, a different user wanted “a montage of the kids grown up living their separate lives” to accompany Fleetwood Mac’s track, ‘Go Your Own Way.’ A fan even suggested Jon Bon Jovi’s ‘Livin’ on a Prayer,’ calling it absolutely “perfect,” but some said their choice “depends upon what happens.” While it surely does, it looks like the question is no longer about who survives, but what song saves them.
