Happy Hunger Games! Netflix Treats Fans With a Summertime Surprise to Celebrate 11 Years of the Beloved Franchise
Series and films that are adapted from the novels have a whole different level of a fanbase. For instance, fans follow The Witcher, starring Henry Cavill, religiously. There are also films like the Harry Potter series, the Narnia film series, and of course, the fan-favorite DC Comics and Marvel films. Fans still love these franchises and follow them with all their hearts. However, there is one more 11-year-old film franchise that fans love the most, and it is The Hunger Games. To celebrate the success of the franchise, Netflix brings it to its platform for you to stream.
The franchise kick-started with a 2012 American dystopian action movie. The movies star Jennifer Lawrence, Woody Harrelson, Josh Hutcherson, Stanley Tucci, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, and Donald Sutherland. They are based on The Hunger Games trilogy of novels by American author Suzanne Collins. And now, Netflix announced the movies are available for you to stream on the platform.

With a total budget of $495 million, the film franchise earned $2.970 billion at the Box Office. The first film of the series broke records on the opening day. It also sets the history for the biggest opening weekend for an original IP.
All the films got good responses from the critics. It got praise for its themes, and especially, Lawrence’s performance was also widely appreciated. The first movie got an 84% rating, the second got 90%, the third one got a 69% rating and the fourth film got a 70% rating from Rotten Tomatoes.

The fans loved the films so much that the franchise ended up becoming the 21st-highest-grossing flick franchise of all time. It also has the biggest Box Office gross collection globally. If you are a fan of the film franchise, there is a piece of good news for you.
A prequel to The Hunger Games films, titled The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, is also coming up on the 17th of November, 2023. The prequel is based on the eponymous novel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. It is understandable if, being a die-hard fan of the franchise, you can’t wait for the prequel to land as well.
