Billie Eilish gets accused of plagiarism. The multiple Grammy Award-winning singer is one of the youngest talents and a pop culture icon in today’s time. She started singing years ago, working alongside her brother, Finneas O’Connell. Eilish is known for her angelic voice and dark yet calm vibes that helped her gain fans from a tender age.
The No Time To Die singer achieved success at a rather young age. She, along with her brother, write their songs and have been successful so far. But creativity is a highly protected aspect by law and can often land one in trouble. In a recent one, Eilish has been accused of plagiarism.

Billie Eilish is accused of plagiarism with this old song
Intellectual property is a debatable issue in the creative industry, especially when it comes to music. Eilish was accused that her song Bury a Friend has been copied from the old song People are Strange by the rock band The Doors. The song first came out in the 1960s. The psychedelic rock song is one of its kind and quite well-loved, which is likely why Eilish is suspected of having picked it as an inspiration. Although the singer maintains that her idea of Bury a Friend actually comes from the imagination of monsters under the bed.

This is not the first case of plagiarism, though. It is quite common in the music industry to accuse and file lawsuits in regard to music; Be it the lyrics, the tone, or any part of it. Some of the famous instances of plagiarism are Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven, which shares a resemblance with the 1968 Spirit’s musical piece Taurus as well as Nirvana’s Come As You Are’s a similarity to Eighties track by The Joke.

So far, no legal steps have been taken by representatives of The Door against Eilish. But some fans have continued to voice their opinion on the song. Meanwhile, the Happier Than Ever recently left her audience in awe of her performance at the Earthshot Awards. She has also been in the news for her romance with The Neighbourhood’s Jesse Rutherford, with fans criticizing the age-gap and the singer unapologetically being in love.
