Graham McTavish Praises Liam Hemsworth for ‘The Witcher’ 4 While Giving a Nod to Predecessor Henry Cavill

The Witcher saga never really hit the brakes with the farewell of Henry Cavill, nor did the sorcery slow down on The Continent. If anything, despite the sorrows and struggles for amendments, the cast and crew of the Witcherverse understood the assignment. Steering the narrative with a special impetus on the good old books to explain Geralt’s transition from Cavill to Liam Hemsworth, The Witcher has done what the fans could not make amends with. But the stars, including Graham McTavish, have welcomed the successor and seen beyond the conflicts and controversies.

Yet, no Witcher conversation is complete without a Cavill ring, and even McTavish’s praise for Hemsworth came with a slide of Cavill praise.

The Nerd Shepherd from the Netherlands (via What's On Netflix) published a new interview with The Witcher actor Graham McTavish, who is famous for his role Sigismund Dijkstra. The conversation happened during the Heroes Dutch Comic Con at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht when McTavish shed light on the upcoming season of the Netflix series. Reflecting on the infamous transition from Henry Cavill to Liam Hemsworth, McTavish revealed “what a joy” it was to work with the latter.

McTavish believes Netflix and The Witcher lucked out, having Cavill and Hemsworth play Geralt of Rivia in the series. “There’s plenty in store—plenty of the usual double-dealing that you can expect from the characters,” McTavish teased in his confession. Although The Witcher has wrapped up filming, the actor had to play mum with his admissions regarding the show, citing Netflix could “kill” him.

On the other hand, McTavish likened the lead switch to the ever-evolving James Bond, a role with more versions than a rebooted franchise.

In his conversation with The Nerd Shepherd during the Heroes Dutch Comic Con at the Jaarbeaurs in Utrecht, Graham McTavish was armed with an arsenal of explanations to reason with the transition from Henry Cavill to Liam Hemsworth in The Witcher 4. “James Bond has been played by seven different actors,” he said while rationalizing why fans still love it despite the change. McTavish believes the passion does not fade because of fans’ love for the “core of a James Bond film.”

McTavish sees it similarly with The Witcher as he likens it again to Doctor Who. He assumes the transition should not sting as long as it remains “true to the world” and the actors and the scripts are good. Although he is confident the switch is “seamless,” it remains to be seen if The Witcher fans find themselves in the same boat after season four’s release.
