Despite the plethora of players that have now found their footing in the streaming arena, Netflix can still beat their best efforts with simply a one-leg stand. This loyal audience and the opulence that it enjoys now are simply the result of the OTT mogul trying to bring the absolute best for its audiences not just in terms of securing rights for big buck projects, and originals, but also games.

While the streamer surprised everyone in 2021 as it tip-toed into the gaming arena, fast forward to 2024 and the streamer is confidently posing to be a gaming jewel, all thanks to its new addition.

Netflix set to turn tides in gaming

Despite the barrage of content that it provides, Netflix is notorious for the consistency that it displays in staying one and half step ahead of the rest. Amidst chants of how the streamer is going to lose subscribers owing to its new subscription plans, it has pulled out a trump card by appointing Alain Tascan as its new Games President.

For gaming connoisseurs, Tascan is a name they have mentally bowed down their heads to, owing to his revered veteran title in the industry. Netflix's new game president has been involved with the development of Fortnite, Lego Fortnite, and Fall Guys. Despite Tascan keeping his lips sealed as of now regarding what his appointment holds, his past projects are just the perfect components to fuel speculations.

As Netflix cemented yet again, why it remains the best in business on the July 18 during the Q2 2024 earnings call, Ted Sarandos shed a surprising yet welcomed light on the streamer's plan to boost its games. According to Digiday, the aim is to keep the viewers invested during season gaps, new releases, and more.

The games will not only provide fans to still remain in the comfort of the cherished eco chambers of their favorite projects, but also lay the groundwork for character introductions and plot twists. This for fans of shows such as Wednesday that are still in production is definitely a golden thread. In this way, Netflix has ensured that its games are a double-edged sword which fans will hopefully not mind getting stabbed by.
