It is not new for Meghan Markle to be at the receiving end of trolling and criticism. Ever since Harry and Meghan stepped down as working royals over two years back, the Duchess of Sussex has been subjected to a lot of hate from people and royal watchers in Britain. The demise of the Queen has given another chance to the British press and public to lament the American actress.
Along with her husband, Meghan Markle is fulfilling all the royal duties by attending the mourning events organized for the Queen. She and Harry also walked alongside William and Kate for a walkout outside Windsor Castle. Though the former actress is doing everything that is expected of her, she has not been able to please a certain section of people. A handful of royal fans are ridiculing the Sussex royal for her demeanor and clothes at Queen’s Service.
Meghan Markle draws criticism over flowers and microphone
For starters, people were mad at Meghan Markle for not accompanying her husband Prince Harry to Balmoral Castle. It was the place where the Queen breathed her last. Notably, the 41-year-old was not the only one who stayed back as Kate also decided to stray back to ensure a normal first day of school for her children.
Meanwhile, a few people also did not like her presence outside Windsor Castle to greet the mourners. Some of the crowd even refused to shake hands with former senior royal as they believe that her presence in the ceremonies will hurt the Queen. Later, Meghan was bashed for holding a bouquet. It is against the royal rules to hold bouquets from the crowd, as they can be harmful.
There is another rumor floating that states that Meghan Markle had a microphone in her dress during the funeral. People are coming up with conspiracy theories about how the Duchess is planning to record all the talks to create content for her Netflix documentary.
Lastly, Harry and Meghan were also slammed for holding hands during Queen’s Service. Any kind of PDA is against the royal rules. However, the Sussex couple is not bound by the limitations anymore. Moreover, Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara Tindall also held hands with her husband, which didn’t draw any criticism.
It is no secret that Meghan will continue receiving hate, irrespective of what she does during her time in the UK. What do you think about Meghan’s presence in the ceremonies? Share your thoughts in the comments.
