October 2022 brought joy to The Witcher fans with the revelation of season 4, and the excitement has been simmering since then. Things got even more interesting when Henry Cavill decided to step down as Geralt, and the intrigue further escalated when Liam Hemsworth was confirmed as the new Geralt for season four. However, the real bombshell hit when the news dropped that Laurence Fishburne, known for his roles in Matrix and John Wick, would be joining the cast as Regis.

In a recent interview, Freya Allan, the actress behind the character Ciri in the Lauren Hissrich series, offered her take on the recent casting decision.

Netflix shook things up earlier this month by revealing that Laurence Fishburne will be joining The Witcher‘s ensemble in the next installment. Teaming up with the newly recruited Liam Hemsworth, who will inherit the role of Geralt of Rivia from Henry Cavill, this news had Freya Allan singing praises. “I can’t believe it, it’s brilliant“, said Allan to GamesRadar+, while also keeping mum about the specifics of his role as Regis.

The actress could not contain her excitement for meeting Fishburne, acknowledging him as a stellar addition to the cast. Allan also teased the possibility of a “dark turn” for Ciri in the upcoming season and expressed excitement about exploring that storyline, while talking to Radio Times. Despite Princess Ciri’s unwavering virtuous demeanor, her underlying propensity towards darkness has been subtly portrayed in Netflix’s series.

The Netflix series dug into this prophecy about a Falka descendant bringing world destruction. It also talked about a potential savior in an elf from Lara Dorren’s family. Season 3 leaned heavily towards Ciri being linked to Falka. After joining the Rats, she called herself Falka, giving a big hint that she might be the one bringing chaos. The Rats, inspired by the books, are like modern-day Robin Hoods, stealing from the rich. Still, they are not exactly angels. In the books, this bandit gang stole from the wealthy for their own needs.

The Rats are not afraid to get their hands dirty with violence and murder either. Joining the Rats, Ciri is on a track to explore darker aspects of herself, both in power and personality. However, it could be a bit of a controversial twist for a character known for her kindness. On one side of the coin, there is Regis, the centuries-old vampire celebrated for helping others, joining the crew. On the opposite end, the compassionate Ciri is letting her dark side come to the forefront in the upcoming installment.
