14 Days After Its Release, Netflix’s Live Adaptation of ‘One Piece’ Crosses Another Major Landmark
Ever since Netflix announced that it was working on a live adaptation version of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece, there was a lot of doubt about whether it would live up to the epic manga and anime series that preceded it. But after the updates about the series, fans began trusting the director, Marc Jobst, a little more. No one including, Eiichiro Oda, had much faith in the live-action adventure series. However, the eight-episode series managed to exceed expectations and put forth a show that has people gripped two weeks after its release.
After reaching a monumental amount of views in the premiere weekend of One Piece, the series made its way to the top of Netflix’s list. And now it seems the brand new series is breaking even more unexpected records in its second week on the streaming platform.
Netflix’s ‘One Piece’ adaptation does even better in its second week

It seems as though fans are content with the efforts of Netflix for the first time even after them dropping the Loguetown Arc from its East Blue Saga and changing the story of Kuina’s demise. Just twenty-four hours after the series made its way to the streaming platform, it took over the title as the most-viewed show, and ever since; the views have only been increasing. After reaching 18.5 million viewers over the course of its premiere weekend, the action series has now reached 19.3 million views in its second week.
Apart from that, four hours after its release, One Piece received over 140 million hours viewed which immediately put the series on the top of Netflix’s Top 10 list. But while viewers are still rushing to check out the smashing hit of a series, some have already begun asking about when they could expect a second season of the show.
However, those dreams may have neither been crushed nor confirmed yet. But while there have been rumors about the script for season 2 being completed, a new update may have fans waiting quite a while longer before they find out more about plans for the next season.
One Piece Season 2 script is already complete
With the success of the first season of One Piece, it is not surprising to think fans will be graced with a season 2. However, it was recently revealed that the script for season 2 is ready. This revelation came from the CEO of Tomorrow Studios, Marty Adelstein, who also revealed to Variety that all depends on the SAG-AFTRA strike: the sooner the demands are met, the sooner production will begin.

With what was shared by Becky Clements, if the AMPTP agrees to the demands and finds common ground, the next season can grace the screens even in 2024. Also, Netflix needs to confirm the renewal of season 2 officially. Seeing the frenzy it has created, it seems that Netflix will soon give in to fan’s wishes.
