Despite Prince Harry’s heart-melting bond with Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales could never share a cordial relationship with Meghan Markle. In his book, Spare, Prince Harry detailed minor incidents that laid the foundation of a frosty relationship between the two royal daughters-in-law. As per the Duke, it was mostly Markle’s American upbringing and her sense of humor that put off the future Queen Consort.

Days before the royal wedding in 2018, the Duchess of Sussex had offended Kate Middleton by claiming that the latter had a baby brain. The Duchess of Cornwall did not appreciate the actress’ comment about her hormones and demanded an apology. Meanwhile, it might surprise that there was a moment of a tiff between the two royal ladies during Sussexes’ first public appearance after marriage as well. 

Meghan Markle made the royal family awkward 

In June 2018, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made their first public appearance as newlyweds during the Trooping the Color ceremony. The royal family was in high spirits as they assembled at the balcony of Buckingham Palace. However, Markle played spoilsport with her uncanny answer to Kate Middleton’s question about her experience of attending the late Queen’s birthday celebration. 

“But then: Kate asked Meg what she thought of her first Trooping the Colour. And Meg joked: Colourful. And a yawning silence threatened to swallow us all whole,” the Sussex royal revealed in his book as per Yahoo. 

Prince Harry describes Markle’s bond with the late Queen

The late Queen Elizabeth and Meghan Markle managed to put the awkward incident past them during their first royal trip together. In June 2018, the Duchess of Sussex traveled to Cheshire with the late monarch. It was a fabulous moment for the former American actress as she bonded with her husband’s grandmother over their love of dogs and motherhood.

Prince Harry mentioned in the book how the two royals discussed motherhood at great length. However, the trip was spoiled by poor media coverage, as they described Markle as a misfit in the family while calling her pushy and ignorant.
