After The Karate Kid films, the spin-off show, Cobra Kai has achieved brilliant success. The spin-off has already won the hearts of fans with 5 seasons. Now, fans are waiting for the final season of the show to connect all the dots. However, while connecting the dots, the important thing to remember is the origin of the show. One of the showmakers, Jon Hurwitz, revealed the William Zabka project that inspired the fan-favorite show, Cobra Kai. 

When people like a certain character or a style in a show or film, they start to follow that. Even if you like a certain actor/actress, you start to follow his/her style and everything you can. This Cobra Kai creator’s trio was just the same in their high school days. Like any other teenager, films of their era affected these three minds as well. On the occasion of Hayden Schlossberg’s birthday, Jon Hurwitz posted a picture of the trio revealing the true inspiration behind the show.

On their high school graduation night, Hurwitz was wearing a fingerless glove trying to look like William Zabka’s character from his film, Just One of the Guys. As the man himself revealed, their obsession with the movie made a path for the creation of Cobra Kai. As surprising as it sounds, it is actually William Zabka who inspired the trio to create a spin-off show rather than the original movies. Nevertheless, the original Karate Kids films have their own charm and significance in their lives, too.

While fans are waiting for the final season, the creators of the show stopped working on the final season’s production to support the ongoing writers’ strike.

Cobra Kai production paused to support the writers’ strike

Because of the ongoing writers’ strike, many shows and films have been affected. Some of them even got canceled because of the same. However, the spin-off series creators willingly stopped the production of the sixth season to support the strike. Jon Hurwitz even posted a picture of the writers who eventually put their pencils down because of the strike. Ironically, just a few days before posting the message from the writers’ room, there were many people working on the show.

Along with the picture, Hurwitz also sent a beautiful message to express support for the writers. Since then, while fans have been waiting patiently, the Cobra Kai creators are actively participating in the writers’ strike.

As the creators along with the characters of the show often say, “Strike hard,” after the break, the creators would definitely do so. While waiting for the sixth season to finish filming, tell us how did you find the inspiration behind the creation of the show?
