5 ‘The Witcher’ Spinoffs That Might Save The Franchise on Netflix
Besides being one of the most acclaimed series to come from Netflix, The Witcher has also given birth to multiple spin-off tales. Taking inspiration from Andrzej Sapkowski‘s literature, the majority of the subsequent plots were woven from the fabric that engulfs the Witcherverse. Despite the lukewarm reception and mixed reviews, the spin-offs: Nightmare of the Wolf and Blood Origin gave fans hope for more content to come. However, delivering a spin-off that matches the level of an original is no easy task.
Still, here are some ideas that could make for the perfect spin-off tale.
The first Human-Elven war

First mentioned in Sapkowski‘s fourth book, the first-ever war between humans and elves was riddled with complexities. Although there existed an agreement between elves and humans to maintain peace, the latter demographic declared war and massacred many towns inhabited by elves. Like the upcoming flick The Witcher: Sirens of The Deep, this extension to the saga could even be made into an animated project.
To recreate the war via animation and special effects would be significantly better than a low-budget rendition. If a spin-off were to be dedicated to this bloody chapter in the Witcherverse’s saga, the elf who rebelled against the humans’ oppression, Aelirenn, could serve as the protagonist.
Another character who would make an equally interesting protagonist is this one.
A series dedicated to Falka
Before Ciri took on the title of Falka in the third season of The Witcher, the name was mostly used to refer to the firstborn of King Vridank and Beatrix of Kovir. The stunning Redanian princess’ legacy was that of a powerful sorceress is legendary. Well, the upcoming season of The Witcher is supposed to revolve around Ciri’s transformation into her version of Falka too.
Not only did the previous Falka reclaim her kingdom from outside forces but also left behind children that would later take revenge when her land was taken back from her. Hence, a spin-off centered on her life will make for an intriguing watch, to say the least.
Speaking of powerful characters, let us not forget the mightiest of them all.
An origin story of Witchers
Netflix’s The Witcher is named after the legion of bounty hunters that use their magical powers to bring down monsters. Most notable of them all is the lead character of Geralt of Rivia who was formerly portrayed by Henry Cavill. However, the franchise has yet to lend an in-depth look into the history of this demographic from the Witcherverse. Considering how central this group is to the saga, their origin story is long-due.
If made as an animated series, Doug Cockle who voices the original Geralt from the video games would make for the perfect casting! Recently, he was also announced to be returning to play Geralt in Sirens of The Deep. While Blood Origin did serve up the first Witcher’s life story, another extensive spin-off could help fans gain an insight into the plights of a Witcher.
On the other hand, maybe it is time to get to know an antagonist now.
The story of a formidable villain: Emhyr
In the third installment of The Witcher series, Cavill’s Geralt and Freya Allen’s Ciri tried to thwart the plans of Emhyr var Emreis as he tried to claim the princess’ kingdom by creating a fake version of her. Also referred to as ‘The White Flame’, Emhyr’s character in the Witcherverse is known for his habits of targeting Geralt. And that is one job he is good at too!
As an antagonist with a go-getter attitude and a thirst for cruelty, Emhyr would make for the perfect subject for a spin-off. Especially due to his dark past that made him so. A look into his timeline with the many plot twists his life saw would make for a thrilling watch. The story of his grand conquests fuelled by Vilgefortz’s whispers in season 3 alone could make for a spin-off film.
Or maybe another thing that came to light in Season 3 would make for the perfect tale.

Amongst the many battles from the previous season was the one held at Aretuza. Well, the fortress that the outside forces were trying to take over was once an academy for women to train in the magical arts. In the Witcherverse, the place holds a lot of significance. Not to forget its breathtaking T-shaped structure that makes for the perfect setting for a light-hearted spin-off.
Like the Harry Potter franchise, Witcherverse has its own Hogwarts! So, why not create a drama based on its history and ongoings in early times? To see young mages and sorceresses train at the school would certainly be amusing. After all, another upcoming spin-off: Riff-Raff which follows the story of young miscreants, also covers the younger demographic of the Continent.
