Stranger Things finally announced the official start of its season 5 production yesterday. After months of teasing fans, the Netflix series’ cast finally converged in Atlanta, Georgia where Hawkins is located. From headlining stars like Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp and Sadie Sink to the show’s senior cast and crew including Winona Ryder and the Duffer Brothers have all reconvened at the filming location. As things move forward, fans were hoping to catch glimpses of the behind-the-scenes ongoings at the sets constantly. 

Those wishes are already coming true as images from the shoot have begun appearing online with the Scoops Ahoy duo front and center. 

Stranger Things 5 sets buzzing with action

In a series of images that appeared on X (previously Twitter), the curtains were pulled on the beginning days of the season 5 shoot. One image showcased Joe Keery, the face of Steve Harrington alongside Maya Hawks who plays the queer queen and Steve’s BFF, Robin. Both stars were beaming at the lens while another image showcased Jonathan Byers and Nancy Wheeler’s empty chairs, hinting at an ongoing scene between them being filmed. 

Nancy and Jonathan left their relationship at quite a sour note in season 4 in which they were mostly separated. So, the chair seems to hint at a reunion in which they might finally address their issues. Meanwhile, Matt and Ross Duffer were hard at work in another click bringing their beloved show’s final season to life. It looks like fans will be treated to such peeks into the shoots throughout the filming process. 

As for the love triangle between Joe Keery’s Steve and the couple that is Nancy and Steve, fans can expect either of these scenarios. 

The likely outcomes for Nancy, Jonathan and Steve

In season 4, Joe Keery’s Steve continued to pine over his ex Nancy as the two faced the many challenges of the previous season as a team. Meanwhile, Nancy’s current boyfriend Jonathan was in a different world altogether. Last month, Keery addressed his character’s pattern of constantly getting beaten up and hinted the same might happen in season 5.  Well, Jonathan may become the one who lands the next blow for Steve’s interference in his relationship.

While some fans wonder if Nancy will end up with Steve eventually, it is equally likely that the gifted teen chooses to go solo and focus on her career. After all, this was foreshadowed throughout season 4 as she grappled with the consequences of settling down so soon. For now, fans can find relief in the fact that her final decision will be unveiled in the fifth and last season of Stranger Things.
