For the first time in the last 10 years, Netflix witnessed something that it never in its wildest dreams imagined would happen. After running on the path of progress for an entire decade, for the first time, Netflix lost subscribers. And no, it was no small number. The streaming giant lost 200,000 subscribers which has pushed the company to look for ways to control the damage. And one thing that has been in the discussions ever since they announced the loss is Netflix running ads.
However, the subscribers of the streaming platform are not happy with this decision. Many threaten to even leave the service for good if ads are shown to them while they stream Netflix content.

The talks about Netflix planning to introduce a new ad-supported tier are not exactly a new thing. As per a report in The New York Times, the executives have told employees that new ad-supported plans may be introduced towards the end of the year. The new plan will be rather cheaper than the existing plans. Thus, it will give Netflix an opportunity to generate more revenue.
However, the current subscribers of the platform didn’t take the news very well and also got a little confused about the entire thing. Netflix plans to introduce entirely new plans with ads, but many thought that Netflix will show ads to the current subscribers. Hence, a lot of them threatened to leave the platform if something like that happens.
I’ve been a @netflix customer since the time when you had to send the disc back in the mail. If ads go on my PAID SUBSCRIPTION ACCOUNT, I’m gone for good.
This is not negotiable.

Well, the fans are not the only people Netflix has angered in the past few days. Even the shareholders of the company were left stunned at how Netflix hid important details from them, and they even sued the streaming giant for misleading the shareholders.

With the introduction of a new cheaper tier with ads, Netflix will join the likes of Spotify, YouTube, and much more entertainment-providing apps and sites. But can this really help them recover from the financial slump?
a YouTube video? Ads. Social media? Ads. Watch something on Netflix? Ads. Learn about a character on fandom? Carpet bombed with ads. Spotify? SoundCloud? Ads. Almost every corner of the internet? Ads.
I feel like somebody out there’s gonna do something crazy over this shit
