2025 will be a grand, yet bittersweet year for Netflix fans. On one hand, fans have been waiting for some of the most epic finales of their favorite shows. On the other hand, there is the sad reality of having to say goodbye to these beloved series. But setting aside fan emotions for a moment, this year could present a golden opportunity for other shows to build a strong following on Netflix and potentially become the next big hit.

A Reddit user posed this question recently, highlighting shows like Stranger Things, Squid Game, and Cobra Kai, all of which are about to have their finale this year. Fans now have a smaller selection of major Netflix shows. Of course, there is Bridgerton, and Wednesday, which will release its second season this year. However, it will take at least three more years before Wednesday drops its next installment after 2025.

In addition to these mainstream shows, Netflix is also home to many underrated franchises. These films were highly praised upon release but have yet to find the large audience they deserve. Some of these include Ripley, Monsieur Spade, and Terminator Zero, all of which have the potential to grow into major hits in the near future, now that there is enough room for mainstream shows on the streaming giant.

Reddit fans predict the next big Netflix shows

Netflix never runs out of new shows. They release several titles each month, and many of them quickly fall into obscurity. In recent years, a few series have proven they could reach the same level of popularity as hits like Squid Game. As a fan pointed out, “One piece and 3 body problem both have the potential to be huge”. One Piece, in particular, had even dethroned shows like Stranger Things and Wednesday upon its debut on the streaming service, in terms of viewership.

The success of One Piece has sparked fans' interest in other Shonen Jump series, as fans chose adaptations like, "Dragon Ball, Bleach (live-action adaptation), Naruto, and My Hero Academia". Meanwhile, some fans mentioned shows like Lincoln Lawyer and The Gentlemen as having bright futures. Some even believe Netflix’s recent WWE investment could lead to more wrestling-themed content. Meanwhile, others are still hoping for spin-offs of Stranger Things, Squid Game, and Cobra Kai.
