Fans are blaming James Gunn for canceling the return of Henry Cavill as Superman. The actor was first cast in Man of Steel back in 2013 with Zack Snyder’s direction. It instantly became a massive hit, sealing his fate of starring in many future movies as Superman. Although he also continued to play heroic roles in period-based movies and series throughout his career.

His character even made a cameo in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam. Much to the fan’s excitement, he dropped a hint of his return for the next part of Man of Steel. Unfortunately, the entertainer had to announce on social media that he would never return to that role again.

Fans were emotional as Henry Cavill announced he would no longer be returning as Superman. While the franchise will likely continue in the future, new DC lead James Gunn is facing a lot of heat for his decisions. Apparently, he wants to make plans for the next 10 years of DC and that whole plan led to a meeting where the plan to bring back Cavill was scrapped. One post on social media pointed out how fans should be given what they want. That led to a discussion over Gunn’s decision, with many wanting him to step down from the role.

While many want James Gunn fired, some people have a rather opposite view.

But there is an ongoing debate. Should movie makers always cater to the audience, and do the audience really know better than professional moviemakers? Henry Cavill has left a very high mark and big shoes to fill as he was highly loved for effortlessly playing the role of Superman.

Keeping up with its competitor Marvel movies, DC wishes to explore its comic characters further. Although it remains to be seen how the company survives in future with new characters.
