Ever since OTT platforms became a major stakeholder in cinema, it became clear that Netflix was untouchable. However, as more streamers tested their waters, one began to wonder what it was that makes the streamer a cut above the rest. And without dipping into technicalities, the obvious answer emerges as its spellbinding originals. It is through chart-topping series such as Wednesday and Stranger Things that Netflix retains its position as the OTT mogul.

When convincing someone to switch to Netflix, Stranger Things and Wednesday are often used as bait. There would not be a hint of exaggeration in saying that the aforementioned series’ are the apples of Netflix’s eye. However, as one surpasses the other in its records, two of the most passionate fandoms have found themselves against each other.

Wednesday premiered on the streamer towards the end of last year. The Jenna Ortega-led drama managed to unite and surprisingly impress fans of its predecessors, The Addams Family. For the younger generation, it provided a wonderland of thrill, mystery, and romance, all carried on the back of a sarcastic gothic female lead. A trait tried and tested when trying to make a hit series. However, Stranger Things has a history with Netflix. They have been together since 2016. And come what may, it always remained the most-watched series on the platform.

Keeping the hefty bag of emotions aside, the greatest predicament fans have regarding this result is that the Duffer Brothers series has spent years on the top. Whereas, Wednesday took only months to break Stranger Things Season 4’s 140.7 million views with 252.1 million.

This also does not rub right as the Hawkins-based series has four seasons with a final one in the making. And the Tim Burton directorial has only one. Therefore, it has led even those who enjoyed horror comedy to scratch their heads.

While they have found themselves at loggerheads with each other, there are quite a few parallels one can draw from the series. One that is the most obvious is its prominent female leads.

Akin to how Stranger Things came to be defined by Millie Bobby Brown, Wednesday is synonymous with Jenna Ortega. This makes us wonder if this really is the clash of the Wednesday and Stranger Things clans.

The Jenna Ortega vs Millie Bobby Brown debate

One does not need to have Holmes in their surname to see how Jenna Ortega and Millie Bobby Brown were arguably the most popular stars to emerge from their show. And while one can debate about every character being pivotal, it is these ladies that ultimately do most of the heavy lifting. However, the similarities do not just end in being the main character of their respective shows.

Due to the hike in their popularity and similarities in their age, the two actresses are pitted against each other. A trope unfortunately repetitive in the industry. However, in proving that one is better than the other, the fandoms fail to notice how both were equally ostracized for just being themselves. As fans quarrel over Stranger Things vs Wednesday and Jenna Ortega vs Millie Bobby Brown, it is important to note that the most-watched changes quite frequently. This is how a flop 2013 Arnold Schwarzenegger movie becomes trending on Netflix.
