In the history of good period drama, there are a handful who could come toe-to-toe with Netflix’s The Crown. The poignant retelling of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s life and time landed the streaming giant one of its most acclaimed successes of all time. The show’s gripping retelling of royal events swapped cast members every two seasons to showcase their aging. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Debicki and Emma Corrin almost mirrored reality playing the late Princess Diana.

Cast as a young version of the late Princess of Wales, Emma Corrin starred in The Crown’s fourth season. Thereafter, Elizabeth Debicki took over the reins, going on to end the tale in the upcoming episodes. A recent red carpet event held in London for the last episode’s premiere brought about a Princess Diana reunion and fans simply could not have enough of it.

Driving through the English countryside, Debicki’s portrayal of the late royal remains one of the iconic scenes from the series. The actress commanded a majestic grip on the narrative flow thanks to flawless acting prowess and Netflix channeling the fashion lexicon to perfection. The November-aired first half of the sixth season dealt with the final eight weeks of her life. Furthermore, the most haunting tales would come to life in the remaining six.

Around eight days from now, Netflix will drop the last half and conclude The Crown. While it has found descriptions as a love letter to the late Queen, the final episodes will revolve hugely around the aftermath of Princess Diana’s unfortunate car crash. Additionally, with producer Peter Morgan confirming the appearance of the royal’s ‘ghost’, an edge-of-the-seat performance comes as a given from the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 actress.
