The producers have based the Netflix show on a podcast of the same name. This means that you can actually listen to the podcast and get a head-start for a better understanding of the series.
As per Hollywood Reporter, the show follows an archivist named Dan Turner, who will take up the job to restore a collection of videotapes belonging to the early years of the ’90s. While he is doing that, he reconstructs the work of documentary filmmaker Melody Pendras.
At that time, Pendras was working on the investigation of a dangerous cult. After finding out everything about her, Turner sets out to save her from the terrifying end that awaits her 25 years later.
Showrunner Rebecca Sonneshine said, “With Archive 81, we’re hoping to give the supernatural horror genre a new twist — while keeping a dark, deeply emotional romance as its core. Alongside the talented Mamoudou Athie and Dina Shihabi, and visionary partners Atomic Monster and [director/EP] Rebecca Thomas, I’m excited to take Netflix viewers on a terrifying and visually thrilling adventure”
Who all are going to be there in the show?
Mamadou Athie will play the role of Dan Turner and Dina Shibabi will bring life to the character of documentary filmmaker Pendras. Other supporting cast members include Martin Donovan, Matt McGorry, Julia Chan, Evan Jonigkeit, and Ariana Neal.
