It was the 23rd of April, 2021, when we first saw The Grishaverse in all of its glory on Netflix. This Imperial Russian-themed series was nothing short of a blockbuster. Considering the books’ initial popularity combined with actors like Ben Barnes and Jessie Mei Li, fans highly anticipated the second season as soon as they had binged the first. Well, here’s some exciting news for them- Shadow and Bone creators are filling out the new cast for season 2!

Here are all the new additions the creators of Shadow and Bone made to the cast along with the old actors we’ll be seeing again:

Anna Leong Brophy as Tamar Kir-Bataar

The twin sister of Tolya Yul-Bataar, Tamar Kir-Bataar is a former member of the Strumhond’s crew who later begins working for Nikolai Lantsov. Actress Anna Leong Brophy plays this enigmatic role. Viewers might remember her from the British sitcom Back, as Bryony.

Lewis Tan as Tolya Yul-Bataar

Just like his twin sister, Tamar Kir- Bataar, Tolya Yul-Bataar finds his roots in Strumhond’s crew and later works as Nikolai Lantsov’s bodyguard. Actor Lewis Tan will be playing this role in the Netflix Original series. The actor has appeared in hits like Badlands, Mortal Kombat, and Wu Assassins. In addition to his experience as an actor, Tan boasts expertise in the field of martial arts that makes him the perfect addition to the new cast of Shadow and Bone.

Patrick Gibson as Nikolai Lantsov

Known to fans for his memorable roles in The Tudors, Primeval and The OA is Patrick Gibson. Gibson is going to play the role of Nikolai Lantsov, a character fans are very excited to see. Lantsov was the former king of Ravka, who spent many years in hiding. This piece of information should be enough to get fans interested in this character who has the potential to change the plot in many ways.

Jack Wolfe as Wylan Hendricks

Probably the most significant new character in the series and hence, the most pivotal new addition to the cast of Shadow and Bone is Jack Wolfe as Wylan Hendricks. Hendricks is an alias for a character the Grishaverse books lovers adore indefinitely and so will the fans of the Netflix live-action series.

These new cast members will meet the older characters and cast that fans remember from Shadow and Bone season 1. There’s Ben Barnes as General Kirigan, Jessie Mei Li as Alina Starkov, Freddy Carter as Kaz Brekker, among others.

While Netflix hasn’t announced a precise release date yet, fans are expecting Shadow and Bone season 2 to be released any time in 2022!
