Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are now more than a decade into their relationship. Considered rightfully one of the strongest couples in Hollywood, Gosling and Mendes met in 2011 during the shooting of The Place Beyond The Pines, and ‘happily ever after’ may not have been the end of the script but it is what the actors followed. However, Gosling’s relationship with Mendes is not your traditional fairytale.

The couple has two daughters together but apparently have not said their vows. We say ‘apparently’, because the duo is in notoriously private about their relationship, as they should be. However, a photo posted by the Hispanic actress suggests that she and Gosling may have already tied the knot.

Upon closer inspection, the tattoo reads “de Gosling”. De in Spanish translates to ‘of’. This could have just been shrugged off as a romantic that Mendes got for her beau. However, Hispanic women follow the tradition of adding ‘de’ followed by their husband’s surname after marriage. And given how Mendes has always stayed close to her roots, the possibility is not too far away. However, considering how tight-lipped both the couple are, we will probably never find out. Moreover, both Mendes and Gosling act far too much like a married couple to not actually be one.

The “I know that I’m with the person I’m supposed to be with” and “not kids, but his kids” are very much things only a married couple would say. We can’t decide if we want them to have an Oscar for Best Married Couple act by an unmarried couple or Best Unmarried Couple Act by a Married couple.

Whatever the marital status may be, Mendes and Gosling are among Hollywood’s most loved couples. The pair share two beautiful daughters together. Furthermore, Mendes gave birth to Esmeralda Amanda in 2014 and in 2016 the couple welcomed their second daughter, Amanda Lee.

Although we do not know her stance now, Mendes told Chelsea Handler back in 2016 that she thinks marriage is a very unromantic concept. Therefore, unless either Mendes or Gosling has had a huge change of heart, the couple is still likely unmarried. And still likely in love.
