The popular manga with over 1000 chapters, boasts a plethora of characters that are yet to crossover to live-action. Among them, one of the most likely contenders is the human-reindeer hybrid, Tony Tony Chopper. In his address to the fans with the latest iteration of One Piece Volume 107, the original creator shared an interpretation of a realistic version of the character. Although, not yet, official, the look offers an insight into the direction Oda is taking for the second season.
Featured with his characteristic pink hat and shorts, the sketch has Chopper’s head exactly like any reindeer. This version comes weeks after the show’s prosthetic lead expressed his willingness to bet more on prosthetics than CGI. Notwithstanding the visual effects they had to put in digitally, especially for the Straw Hat Pirates, the use of animatronics and puppets improved the show’s overall appeal and realism. Thus, Oda is more likely to continue with the same for the forthcoming season as well.
The intriguing look comes close on the heels of the creative team at Netflix unveiling its grand plan for seasons way beyond the second.
One Piece will not be leaving Netflix anytime soon
The record-breaking success that the live-action adaptation of One Piece brought has left Netflix smitten. The executive producer for the show had recently revealed their plans to continue the story for at least six seasons. Given the vast store of characters and themes yet to be explored, the show even has enough material to stretch itself to a staggering twelve seasons. Regardless, all of it depends on its continued success, for which season two has some plans.
