Easter Eggs You Definitely Missed in The Woman in the House

The hammer, the man, and the mailbox
Through the 8 episodes of the Netflix miniseries, fans might have noticed how the mailbox got more screen time than many other characters. By the time we get to “oh my God, he has been fixing that mailbox for years“, we already have guessed that there’s something fishy about Buell. But it was only while we re-watched the series that we noticed how the mailbox (and Buell) are persistent right from the beginning.
There can only be one main character
Another recurring trope The Woman in the House mocks is that of a black and white world with the main character, who is the equivalent of a rainbow. An example of this is Emily in Paris, a show where the protagonist stands out while everyone else is a just sheep in a herd. Signifying this, the creators of The Woman in the House show three different characters coming to visit Anna in a hospital, as they all do and say the same things as each other to a comical extent.
The books
As we mentioned earlier, the title of The Woman in the House is extremely satirical. The name finds roots in the many titles that go along the lines of “the woman…” or “the girl..”. But the creators decided that making fun of this trope using just the title wasn’t enough. Therefore, they slipped in books that are all named similarly.

Playing on this, The Woman in the House lingers in Buell and the mailbox for another scene as Anna is cleaning his wound and he briefly mentions his family.
