Early Reviews for Anatomy of Scandal Are In, Here’s What the Critics Say
Netflix is bringing a miniseries, Anatomy of Scandal, on the steamer which involves themes like psychological thriller and courtroom drama. Anatomy of Scandal revolves around a scandal about a politician, adapted from the 2018 novel of the same name by Sarah Vaughan. The plot develops around James Whitehouse, a junior Parliamentary minister. He is always known for his qualities and looks. With his personality, a perfect home, and a beautiful family, everyone describes the minister as a “full package.” But when an employee files a rape case against Whitehouse, his life crumbles down.
Anatomy of Scandal, seemingly has all the right ingredients: good storytelling, political intrigue, the privilege of the elite class, complicated power differential, courtroom tension, and a scandalous affair between the boss and employee. But is it worth your time? Let’s look at the early reviews.

What do the critics have to say?
The Rotten Tomatoes critics scored the Netflix series with 57%. Audience scores and IMDb scores are not available at the time of publishing since the show is yet to debut on Netflix. So, the show has received mixed reviews. However, this could change after show releases.
Empire Magazine wrote in its review: “Incisive, enraging and boasting an excellent ensemble, this timely drama may be made for binge-viewing but it offers plenty of food for thought.”
Meanwhile, IndieWire feels that the show “resembles a soap opera you’d watch in order to have something on in the background. But the ultra-serious subject matter make it an impossible mindless watch.”
Decider is best for a good time, just not always, and writes, “Like any paperback novel you’d pick up at an airport newsstand, Netflix’s Anatomy of a Scandal isn’t for all time, but it does make for a good time.”
However, AwardsWatch feels the series “packs a punch as it reveals the inner lives of everyone involved in this high-profile scandal.”
What will happen in Anatomy of Scandal?
The plot revolves around James Whitehouse, a U.K. politician, and his downfall. From the outside world, he has it all: His is happily married to his college sweetheart, Sophie, and settled with his two beautiful children. One fine day, he goes to propose an amendment to a new immigration bill. And suddenly, the scandal breaks that Whitehouse is having an affair with an employee, Olivia Lytton.

His reputation goes for a toss afterward. Things get worse when Olivia accuses James of raping her. Soon, the case reaches the court, where a skilled lawyer, Kate Woodcroft, prepares to take down the minister for his crime. A deep character study and intense court drama forms the crux of the miniseries.
